The Xinjiang Conflict: a human rights issue worthy of greater international pressure

Approximately 1 million Uyghurs have been arbitrarily detained by the Chinese government since 2017. A growing list of human rights abuses perpetrated against the Uyghur people has alarmed many members of the international community. The plight of the Uyghur people, a Muslim minority group, can no longer go unnoticed; the United States, along with its allies, must confront the human rights abuses being committed in Xinjiang.
